It took only three minutes for the first online lottery ticket to sell once the system went live at 7 a.m. Sunday. By Thursday evening, more than $425,000 worth of tickets had been sold online, and officials expected sales to increase by the hour as people take their shot at Friday night’s record prize.
Internet sales on Thursday alone amounted to just more than $64,000 by evening, while the day’s retail sales topped $3.2 million.
Illinois is the first state to put its lottery on the Internet in the three months since the U.S. Justice Department reversed its previous stance barring states from conducting online gambling. The department’s ruling goes far beyond tickets, however, and opens the door to states offering virtually any form of gambling, except on sports.

Jacksonville might now be the ideal destination for Tebow, who grew up in the area before playing college football in nearby Gainesville, Florida. The Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets have all discussed the possibility of signing Tebow internally or with the Broncos, ESPN said, citing a league source it didn’t identify.

Nursing Home Care

One of the most important elements of a nursing home is the quality of care that is provides to their patients. The level of care won’t be the same as the needs of the individuals vary. Some nursing homes take people that require all levels of care. Others though have certain things that a person must be able to do on their own before they can be accepted.

One of the big problems with many nursing homes is that they don’t have enough staff. It is essential that the quality of care is never compromised. Patients need to be bathed, fed, and given their medication. They also need access to doctors, physical therapy, and recreational activities. The food they get needs to be delicious as well as nutritious.  It takes a special person to work with those who can no longer care for themselves.

Not all “nursing homes” cater to the needs of special patients.  My mother-in-law is in a special home where they specifically cater to Alzheimer patients.  It’s really quite sad because you can see all the different stages of this horrible disease.  Many nursing home facilities have outside business people come in to offer services. For example they have a dentist come in on a monthly basis. They also have barbers and hairdressers to take care of such needs for the men and women of the nursing home facility.

 

In order to provide adequate care at a nursing home, there needs to be enough staff at all times. There needs to be someone in charge of the other employees so that big decisions can be immediately made. Checking the credentials and the background of employees is also very important for the facility to take part in.

Government Standards At Nursing Homes

There are standards of care that need to be met and many facilities strive to exceed them. Their goal is to provide a good quality life for those that live there. This means their basic needs are met, they are interacting with others, and they get the medical care they need. Most states randomly inspect nursing homes to evaluate the level of care they are providing.

Residents of nursing homes as well as their families have the right to file a complaint if they don’t feel the care is adequate. These complaints have to be handled in a timely manner. In most instances positive changes can be implemented as a result of such information. The cost of nursing home care is expensive but it can also mean a person gets everything they need.

Nursing Home Care And Advise

The majority of individuals that you will find living in a nursing home are elderly. They’re often still full of life but they require ongoing medical care. Their health needs may have made it impossible for them to safely live on their own any longer. A nursing home is different than a hospital because they engage people in various activities and outings. My wife and I had very mixed feeling about it because of all the bad things we’ve heard.  We have all heard horrific stories about abuse taking place. The law has also gotten very tough on those found to be involved in such types of abuse.

It’s important to fully evaluate what a certain nursing home has to offer. The level of care that is offered can vary by establishment. You need to know what special care your loved one will need.

 

My mother-in-law has Alzheimer’s so we had to search for a special care facility that caters specifically to her needs.

This can be a great facility where a person can get the care they need.
